These rewards can make future runs easier, tick off prophecies, and satisfy completionists by filling Codex entries. Fishing is definitely a worthy pass time in the Xbox Series X’s highest-rated game, but there are a few steps players need to do before they can start reaping the benefits.

How to Get the Fishing Rod in Hades
The first step players must take to fish in Hades is to buy the Fishing Rod from the House Contractor in the House of Hades. This is where Zagreus ends up every time he dies. The Contractor is located to the right of Hades, and will appear after two runs are attempted. Zagreus will need to exchange 1 Diamond for the rod.
However, for the Fishing Rod to become available for purchase, players much first complete three requirements:
Reach the Temple of Styx at least once Purchase the Tartarus Fountain Chamber from the House Contractor Purchase the Fated List of Minor Prophecies from the House Contractor
The Tartarus Fountain Chamber is a freebie, but the Fated List of Minor Prophecies costs 20 Gemstones. The Temple of Styx area is unlocked after the third boss is defeated, and before reaching the last boss in Hades.
Where to Fish in Hades
Fishing spots are located in every area of the Supergiant Games developed title, but have very specific requirements for spawning. They will only appear to Zagreus after purchasing the Fishing Rod, and players will know they are in a fishable chamber when a bell-like sound pops after all the enemies have been defeated in that room. The specific spot is located by its brightness in the water/lava.
The room reward must be claimed in order for the spot to appear. They can also be found at Charon’s store, and in the rooms that Eurydice or Patroclus are found.
Each area has a percentage chance of spawning a fishing spot. When one has appeared, and players are done with it, they must also clear a set number of chambers before the chance of another spawn is enabled. The following table details the chance of a fishing spot appearing in each area:
How to Fish in Hades
The best-reviewed Steam game of 2020 has a decent number of fishing spots. Once one has appeared, all players have to do is press the interact button by it. Keep an eye on the hook, as when a fish bites, it will submerge completely. To catch a fish, press the interact button again.
The type and rarity of a fish depend on what area Zagreus is in, and how long it takes to catch the fish. If it is caught in under 0.34 seconds, a Legendary has a 50% chance to spawn. The other 50% chance gives a Rare.
Catching one before 0.68 seconds will spawn a Rare or a Common with a 50/50 chance. Pressing the button any time after this will not produce a fish.
