Each timeline has drastically different events and styles of mobile suits with increasingly unique technology as the timeline progresses. Gundam has explored many different stories influenced by the causality of war and dives heavily into the lives of soldiers and civilians caught in-between the chaos. However, some timelines are more peaceful and deal with more vagrant threats.
The Advanced Generation Universe takes place after the central conflict of earth and space forces have come to an end and peace has finally been achieved. Quite different from most Gundam Universes, the history of the Advanced Generation Universe is unique in itself.
7 The Home Of Gundam: AGE
The Gundam Advanced Generation Universe Timeline focuses on the Gundam: AGE Anime and Manga releases. The Advanced Generation Timeline kicks off almost a century after the human race migrates to space. In this timeline, the wars have stopped, and the last remaining members of the human race have taken refuge in gigantic space colonies that drift throughout the vastness of space.

The Gundam: AGE series follows Flint Asuno, who lives on the space colony Orvan when it is randomly attacked. A faction known as the Unknown Enemy begins a war against the Earth’s space colonies and destroys one of the largest colonies. Later, Flit’s colony is attacked, and in the chaos, he loses what’s left of his family. He narrowly survives though, finding himself on the colony “Nora” with humanity’s last hope in his possession.
6 The Unknown Enemy Faction
The main antagonists of the Gundam: Age series and the Advanced Generation Timeline are the UE or Unknown Enemy. The UE is a band of extremists seeking to destroy the Earth Federation colonies.

Initially, the UE were colonists sent into space by the earth forces for a mission known as the “Mars” Birthday. Unfortunately, the mission was an utter failure due to a space-born illness. Instead of opting for a rescue mission for the surviving colonists, Earth Federations forces decided to abandon them instead. The survivors established a new society called Vagan and swore revenge on the Earth for leaving them for dead.
5 AGE-1 Gundam AGE-1 Normal
The AGE-1 Gundam is one of the most advanced and most powerful mobile suits ever created. The machine was developed and designed by Flint Asuno at the age of fourteen with help from the AGE Device. The AGE Device is a handheld quantum computer that allows the AGE system to be accessed. The AGE system is a hyper-intelligent AI that allows for the mobile suit to adapt and evolve to its environment.
The AGE-1 Gundam takes full advantage of the AGE system and has several variants that are interchangeable for the Mobile Suit by way of detachable legs and arms. These different versions excel at several combat styles such as ranged, melee, space, land, and high-speed combat.
4 The Gundam Age Variants
With the aid of the Age system, Flint Asuno was able to utilize its full potential and create an armory of different customizations for the Gundam AGE-1 Normal. These customizations consisted of interchangeable parts that modified the Gundam AGE-1 performance and capabilities in battle making it a very unique mecha.
While the Base form of the Gundam AGE-1 was equipped with a shield, beam sabers, a DODS rifle, and lance, the variation’s loadouts were limited but specialized in selected fields with unique abilities. During Flint’s time as a pilot, he created five variants to take on the Vagan threat. However, throughout the AGE or Advanced Generation Timeline, the number of variants increased considerably.
3 The Asuno Legacy
The Asuno name has been a prominent part of history for years. While there is not much known about Flint’s biological father, his mother was directly responsible for creating the DODS system, which aided mankind in migrating to space. The AGE system was also arguably created by the Asuno family, as it is a precious heirloom that has been passed down from generation to generation.

During the events of the AGE timeline, Flint serves as a great male protagonist and grows up and has a family. Flint’s son, Asemu, continued the legacy by piloting the AGE-1 before developing the AGE-2 against the second conflict with the Vagan society. The lineage continues even further as Asemu’s son, Kio, also pilots and develops his own mobile suit cementing the Asuno name in the world of technology and human advancement in the AGE timeline.
2 Continuation In The Manga
While the Gundam AGE timeline was only represented in a single animated series, the story was continued in a series of Manga releases that explored the future of the Advanced Generation Timeline. Most Gundam series are continued in Manga releases with sequels and spin-offs. Some are even manga-only releases leaving a lot of history undiscovered for many western fans.

The Advanced Generation Timeline spans a total of around one hundred years and follows multiple scenarios involving the Asuno family. The entire conflict between the earth federation colonies and the Vagan opposition is fully fleshed out all the way up until the climax, where both sides meet each other in peace and embrace each other for the better.
1 Peace In The Galaxy Once Again
The war between the earth colonies and Vagan comes to a close many decades into the Advanced Generation Timeline. Unfortunately, it takes an egregious amount of bloodshed to reach the summit of peace. Kio Asuno is the one who triumphs in the final battle that decides the fate of the universe after one hundred years of war without being a Newtype.
Both sides join together and repair the damage done by the conflict and at the same time, remedy the issues plaguing them. One of the main problems was the illness that plagues the Vagan race, “Mars Rays.” By working together though, a cure is found, and the Vagans are able to safely settle on Earth.
