This weekend, for the first time in history, Twitch streamer randyladyman has managed to get a 100% on Dragonforce’s “Through the Fire and Flames” on Guitar Hero at 150 percent speed, which is the fastest speed setting in the game. “Through the Fire and Flames” is not only extremely difficult to play on a real guitar, as are most Dragonforce songs, but it is also considered to be the most difficult song in the Guitar Hero catalog. The YouTube video below shows randyladyman’s run in which he got the perfect score, as well as two other attempts in which he missed the full combo by only one or two notes.
From this video, one can clearly see that this song is impossibly fast and hard to play on the guitar controller, and that this perfect score is the result of a lot of practice, many hours of grinding, and a lot of patience. Some Guitar Hero novices might even see some strategies that they never thought to consider, like using both hands to hit the notes for the hammer on sections.
Despite the fact that very few people still play the original Guitar Hero, especially after a newer Guitar Hero game, Guitar Hero Live, was released in 2015, this achievement is certainly noteworthy and is highly unlikely to be achieved by anyone else again in the near future. Randyladyman’s recent achievement might inspire other pro players that might have given up to pick up the Guitar Hero controller again, and to have one more attempt at getting a perfect score on this song.
