This suggestion comes from the job listing for Java developer. The hired candidate will be working with Guerrilla Games’ Game Tech team, which is responsible for building “reliable, maintainable and performant game systems” and giving the programmers, designers, and artists the tools they need to create the game. Guerrilla is also the company behind the Decima game engine which impressed Hideo Kojima, and is being used for Death Stranding, which shows how seriously the company takes its tools development.

In addition to these tools development tasks, the hired Java developer will “work on systems like matchmaking, tournaments, clans and leaderboards.” It’s this sentence that has fans wondering if Guerrilla’s next game will be a major multiplayer title. The candidate will also “work on systems to test and deploy a new server set without downtime” and “integrate the game servers with the PlayStation Network and other third party services.” While nothing is confirmed, it all points to Guerrilla making a huge, multiplayer title.

The new game may not only offer multiplayer gameplay, though. Other job listings from almost a year ago suggested that Guerrilla Games is working on a new RPG. The job listings spoke of quest systems, story, dialogue, as well as factions and backstories. So, the multiplayer mode could be a major extra, complimenting a single player component, or it could be some kind of MMORPG.

All things considered, a big multiplayer game from Guerrilla Games has the potential to be welcomed by many. The job listings suggest that the Guerrilla Games title is very early in development, and it likely won’t be available on PS4, but possibly PS5. At any rate, fans of the company will surely be excited to find out more.
